Wedding budgets, my top tips

When it comes to figuring out how to budget for your wedding, there is always a rush of thoughts floating around your head.

Do you aim high and go for your dream wedding? Or do you keep it strict and stick to something more affordable and realistic? These are just a few of the questions you need to answer.

Nevertheless, you can always rely on my tops tips to help you navigate your way through.

Set multiple limits

This might seem like a strange choice but don’t just have one concrete limit for your entire wedding. Instead, have several tiers that you feel would be acceptable for each sub-section of what you are planning.

Think of it like this:

·         Higher Tier – Absolute maximum

·         Medium Tier – The preferred target

·         Lower Tier – The essentials no frills attached

Having these bands in place gives you flexibility in terms of how you want to spend your money on certain areas. For example, if your reception venue turns out to be cheaper than you expected, you can divert the money somewhere else such as a more expensive dress that you like.,

Having these bands in place gives you more fluidity throughout the planning process and will make everything less stressful in the lead-up to the big day.

Get your priorities straight

Setting your priorities in order will not only help you figure out what to book first but getting the most important things booked in will leave you with your remaining budget for everything else.

Fireworks your number one priority? lock them in first and don’t be afraid of their costs, if confetti is last in the list and you run out of money you will be less disappointed than losing your fireworks.

Always shop around

It might seem cliché but “variety is the spice of life” certainly applies when it comes to budgeting and finding something that meets your needs.

It’s no secret that the wedding market is flooded with amazing talent. You will find many options for everything on your to-do list. Narrow them down to your top 3 and request quotes.

Don’t be fooled though be sure to read the fine print, sometimes if it looks too good to be true it often is.

Lock them in early

Once you have your date set start booking the bigger ticket items, many vendors have an annual price hike and you might bag this year’s prices for your wedding in two years saving you some money.

Mid week/ off season specials

Ask vendors if they have any midweek or off peak specials. You might be surprised how much a Wednesday wedding could save you at your favourite venue.
