Wedding planning my Covid tips

It’s no secret that this pandemic has made it difficult to have any sort of social gathering so anyone planning a wedding I’m sure it feels like an uphill battle.

Despite the challenging times though, it is still possible to have the wedding of your dreams. Just by harnessing a few simple tricks and tips, you can ensure that you can still have the perfect wedding with all your loved ones.

So what are my top tips for planning a wedding in the new world?

Have some backup plans

One of the trickiest things about planning any event at the wedding is just knowing what you can and can’t do.

With the government changing regulations on a whim, it means rules and limitations can alter affecting just what, where and who can attend an event.

For weddings, this can be heartbreaking as you could see guests banned from attending, venues cancelling bookings and everything up in limbo.

Therefore, ensure you have some backup plans ready as just in case your original plans aren’t able to happen for reasons completely beyond your control.

Not sure what to include, try some of the following:

·         Have alternate venues ready. If you see your guest list drop or expand as restrictions change, have a list of venues ready to contact immediately to find somewhere that meets your needs. This may include an outdoor space where restrictions do not apply.

·         Prepare multiple guestlists. It might sound harsh but lining up several guest lists ensures you can immediately prepare your wedding based on current limits without worrying about who to add or remove

·         Keep all parties in the loop. Regardless of how many you plan for, always keep the parties involved in the wedding (like caterers, cake vendors, DJ’s) of all your plans so they can be ready to assist you no matter what is lined up for the big day.

Having all these things pre-planned ensures that you can still host your wedding easily without panicking over what you might be able to get away with based on the current rules in your state.

Keep it local

Unless you are isolated from all your family, it is a wise idea to keep everything close to where you and your guests predominantly live.

Whilst a beach wedding in Fiji or on a remote Asian mountain is idyllic, there’s no doubt you can replicate the same feelings much closer to home.

It only takes a quick search around to find great locations, churches and venues that are not only within a short reach but still retain the same romantic notions that a postcard location can provide.

This not only helps you avoid worrying about if you can travel or not but it ensures that everything can go off without a hitch – no real questions asked.

It’ll ensure that you still get the wedding of your dreams and that all your guests can still attend without missing out on one of the biggest days of your life.

Talk about backups

Discuss backups with your vendors. Who will show up if they are in isolation for example? Be sure you are happy with their backup plan as vendors such as photographers and videographers have a style you might love and you don’t want the total opposite turning up to capture your precious memories.

Don’t panic

Most importantly, try not to panic about the situation no matter what hurdles come your way. The pandemic has wrestled control out of everybody’s hands with nobody being at fault.

The biggest thing to remember is that all the guests will understand the predicament you are facing and will respect the choices you make – no matter what it might involve.

Take a step back and try to look at it from the outside, some deep breaths may be needed.

Try to put some of these contingencies in place, It’ll ensure that you still get the wedding of your dreams and help make planning a wedding that much easier.
