How to pick a wedding photographer

Photographers here there and everywhere !!! how do you pick one?

It’s overwhelming, when planning my wedding I had no idea where to start. I scrolled Instagram, sat on google and asked some friends.

Some of my top tips for finding your perfect photographer

  • Ask your friends, tried and tested reviews will always be number 1

  • If you have booked a venue they often a have recommended vendors list

  • Instagram search some popular hashtags e.g #brisbaneweddingphotographer

  • Wedding magazines or online directories such as Together Journal

Once you narrow the search from the whole internet I have some more tips

  • Photographers will often show our favourites on social media and curate it so it looks pleasing to the eye. Check their website for full wedding galleries. Here you will get a feel for what they capture from start to finish.

  • Think about the vibe you want from your photos. Every photographer has a style of shooting and style of editing, if you are a happy bubbly couple you probably don’t want a dark and moody photographer and vice versa.

  • Send an inquiry and ask for a catch-up, I often have coffee with couples so they can ask me all the questions in one hit, they can get a feel for my personality and check if I’m the right fit for them.

  • Request a copy of their prices, Photographers rang from your cousin just starting out to someone in the field a long time. Finding the right balance for you is important but also remember when the day is finished these photos are all you will have so don’t always get stuck on the price.

  • Do an engagement shoot, watch out for specials. Some photographers might give you a discounted shoot to try before you commit. This is an awesome way to experience how you will work together and how they make you feel.

My biggest time is go with they vibe, there would be noting worse than having a photographer with you all day that you don’t click with. Its a long day
