How to save big $$$ on your wedding venue

Weddings cost money, lots of money. Your excitement can sometimes leave a big hole in your pocket if you run in blind.

I have put together some mega saving tips so you can get planning without needing to remortgage your house.

Venues

It’s no secret that a venue can set you back anywhere from $7500 ( just for the patch of grass ) to $100,000+

When planning my wedding we dabbled in the idea of having it at a wedding venue, we quickly changed our mind when we saw the price tags and the limited flexibility in what you can do. Also, my family are Irish, 10 pm cut off was never an option.

Some great ideas I’ve seen:

The backyard wedding ( mine was ) - Do you, your parents, family member or friend have an awesome home you can borrow to use? DIY backyard weddings are always a great time and a big money saver if done right.

Check out Tess + Dans awesome backyard wedding below how lucky their parent live in a rainforest.

Not everyone will live in a rainforest, we got married in a big Queenslander and it was awesome.

The Air B+B

Find an awesome Air B+B to host your reception like Caitlyn + Will below.

You can decorate the space how you like and you can hire awesome food trucks to cater for your guests. I would recommend checking with the owner first.

Your local park

Did you know you can get married under a tree at your favourite park, you can book some awesome spots online or by phoning Brisbane City council to make sure no one else turns up to get married at the same spot. Or you can wing it

You can find some great companies who will bring in everything you need, chairs, arbour etc or you can simply find a cute tree and have your guests stand around.

The registry office Brisbane

Earlier in 2021, I shot a secret wedding at the Brisbane registry office. I had never been there before and I was quite surprised by how beautiful it was. You can hire the room and get a celebrant for Under $400, the room holds up to 50 guests comfortably.

The couple I was with then had a beautiful dinner with their guest at an inner-city restaurant.

It was perfect.

Just remember your wedding is going to be special to you no matter where you get married.
